End of season views of Ben Nevis

6th April 2025

Fine sunny conditions continued for the final forecasting day of the season and are due to continue for the next few days. As we finish many of the hills in Lochaber are close to snow free with snow remaining in gullies and around coire rims on North to East aspects above 1100 metres. Any snow that remains is now very firm only softening when exposed to the sun. The largest areas of snow are on Ben Nevis and are pictured below, there is significantly less than normal for early April. Thanks for reading and lets hope for a snowier season next year. Lochaber SAIS Team.

Ben Nevis as the 2025 forecasting season ends on 6th April.

North-East Buttress to Tower Ridge, Ben Nevis

Coire na Ciste, Ben Nevis

Number 4 Gully in the centre of the shot with no snow on the approach and several breaks in the gully.

Number 5 Gully o the left, Carn Dearg Buttress in the centre and the Castle Gullies and Castle Ridge on the right.

The final ridge leading to the summit of Carn Mor Dearg. Snow on the steep Eastern side but this is easily avoidable heading up the centre of the ridge.

Looking over the Carn Mor Dearg arête to Am Bodach in the Mamores.
