Aonach Beag

Continuing the theme of visiting some of the Lochaber hills that we don’t get to very frequently on forecasting days, I headed to Aonach Beag today. It was a bit cloudier than the forecast suggested but there were some fairly brief clearer periods for photos.
The snow pack is very similar to yesterday with firm, patchy old snow and a very thin covering of softer snow. The soft snow was thawing at lower elevations and where it got into the sun but at higher elevations had developed a very thin crust.
It was almost a dry day but there was some very light drizzle. On the summits this was still in a solid form. The best word that I can come up with for this is snizzle but if anyone has a better term for the snow equivalent of drizzle then feel free to comment.

This boulder stood out as being the only thing to have ice on it at this low elevation of 850 metres.
While the higher hills were mostly cloudy today there was a bit of sun at glen level.
