Another Wintry Day High Up
29th March 2025
Another wintry day on the tops. Above about 900 metres there was noticeably more fresh snow than there had been yesterday. As expected it was drifting into the tops of the slopes and gullies with some fresh cornices development. However, the fresh deposits are not particularly deep or extensive, with the tops of slopes and gullies being most affected, and any fresh cornices are not large.

Lots of Bikes, and this is just a fraction of the total number of bikes on the hill today. It was the MacAvalanche event at Nevis range. Over 300 hundred riders raced from just above the snow line down the hill to the Nevis Range carpark.

Looking down the line of the Goose T-Bar. It felt a bit snowier at this level (about 1000m) than it did yesterday.

Looking down Easy Gully. Not a great deal to see, but I there was a bit more snow in there than there had been yesterday.

A grainy picture (I find this setting on my camera brings out features better when the light is flat). Fresh cornices had formed in the last 24 hours of so.

The Webcam image from just before 3pm this afternoon. If you compare to those on yesterday’s blog you can see that there is a bit more snow about today. However, it is starting to thaw as the temperature rises and the precipitation turns to rain.

The webcam view at 4pm. Visibility is a bit better. Looking a bit milder with slightly less snow than in the previous image.
