Thawing

20th February 2025

The forecast for today was correct and it was warm, wet and windy. The temperature at 1200 metres peaked at 4.3 degrees Celsius this morning. There has been a significant thaw and there was a lot of water in the burns and rivers.

Some pictures below showing what snow and ice remains on Ben Nevis with the last one showing Aonach Mor. More thawing is expected tomorrow unfortunately.

A rather black looking Ben Nevis.

Plenty of water in the Allt a’ Mhuilinn.

Carn Dearg to the Castle area.

Coire na Ciste

North-East Buttress and Tower Ridge.

The North side of Aonach Mor this afternoon.
