A white New Year

1st January 2025

The rain has finally stopped and the snow has started!
But to be honest, it looks much more snowy than it actually is. Almost all of the new snow is lying on bare ground with snow deeper deposits in wind sheltered locations. The winds overnight have been strong, initially from the West but latterly from the North-East

Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg this afternoon after the cloud cleared

Typical snow depths up high.
Wind blowing from left to right, scouring snow from East and North aspects and depositing it on the Western aspects

The sun does exist in Lochaber!!
