Thawing

24th December 2024

A significant thaw is taking place today. Rain and very mild with the summit temperature on Aoanch Mor reaching 7.2 degrees celsius at 7am this morning giving a rise of just over 11 degrees in 24 hours. The snowmelt is obvious with rivers high, most of the fresh snow at lower levels gone and the snow cover at higher elevations diminishing once again. Forecast to remain relatively mild for the next few days with a slight dip in temperature on Thursday, then colder weather predicted to return from Saturday, so there is hope for a colder New Year. Wishing all our readers a Happy Christmas.
