Farewell to the warmest year on record

31st December 2024

Globally 2024 has been the warmest year on record although this wasn’t the case in the UK due to a poor summer. The start of 2025 is looking cold for the UK so hopefully some good winter conditions might develop soon.

Today was warm, wet and windy (again) and any snow that fell last night got washed away. The temperature dropped in the afternoon and the higher summits got a little fresh snow.

Pictures below show what could be seen of the patchy remaining snow.

There was a lot more white water than snow.

The Castle gullies.

Poor visibility in showers.

Aonach Mor during a brief clear period.
