Blustery Ben

7th March 2024

For a large part of the day the clouds were above the summits.  South-Easterly winds were strong and quite gusty at higher levels.  Although the freezing level was set to be above the summits, the airmass over the mountains remained favourably cool.  The combination of conditions and weather exhibited the magnificence of Ben Nevis.

Views from the main path leading up to the CIC hut.

Looking down towards the lower section of Tower ridge.

Looking across Coire na Ciste from below the Comb Buttress.

Climbers cross the slope towards the base of Comb Buttress.

Views looking up Coire na Ciste The Comb to the right.

Conditions at mid mountain, a mix of ribbons of snow, and bare ground.

In the meantime, how’s it looking on Aonach Mor?  Thanks for the photo Mike Brownlow SAIS.
