Warmer and Wetter.

15th December 2023

It started off with some bright spells in the glens. However, the cloud which had sat over on the tops from first things soon became more extensive, and then drizzle started, and the wind got up.  Temperatures were around or just below freezing on the tops overnight but it warmed up through the day. There is not much snow around, not enough, it was felt, to justify publishing an avalanche hazard report. There are a few streaks of water ice from the colder conditions a few days ago, and with conditions forecast to remain mild and wet, any remaining ice on the crags has the potential to fall off.

A slightly tilted Aonach Mor this morning when there was still a few patches of clear sky about.

A cloudy and damp Coire na Ciste is up there somewhere.

The Douglas Boulder and looking over to the base of the Minus Face. Most of the white you can see below the face id ice on frozen water course rather than snow.
