Drifting Snow

24th February 2022

Today was a very windy day with cold temperatures, causing lying snow to drift and windslab accumulations to become more extensive. Windslab will continue to develop overnight and persist throughout the day as temperatures remain low.

Snow drifting in the strong West-South-Westerly winds.

Looking up at Aonach an Nid with spindrift seen on the skyline ridge, indicating the development of windslab on the steep slopes in the photo.

A view a bit further round in a brief clearing in the weather. Lots of windslab formation on the slopes in this picture.

Snow lying to low levels around midday today, this is taken at about 300m.
