Ben Nevis Sunshine

5th December 2020

After a cloudy start it soon cleared up this morning. I had a wander up to the North Face of Ben Nevis to have a look about. The buttresses are looking very white having caught the yesterdays North Easterly wind. However, as can be seen in the photos below there is not very much snow (or ice) about. This is unsurprising given that winter only really arrived a few days ago.

Coire na Ciste

The Orion Face and Douglas Boulder.

Looking up into Observatory Gully. Through the winter a lot of snow builds up in this area, For comparison to what this view looks like at the end of a snowy winter, our blog post from 12th of March 2014 has a shot taken from a similar location  https://lochaberblog.sais.gov.uk/2014/03/plenty-of-debris-on-ben-nevis/
