Some fresh snow

12th March 2022

This morning there was  some snowfall above 1000 metres, rain at lower elevations.  The temperature dropped through the day and precipitation turned to snow above around 850 metres around midday then cleared during the afternoon. There were some reports of cornice collapse from climbers on Ben Nevis today. The winds increased in strength through the day causing the fresh snow to drift and localised accumulations of fresh windslab to develop. Further snowfall is expected overnight with showers becoming lighter again during the day.
