A grey day

24th January 2022

Below 1100 metres today the snowpack was slowly thawing. Above this there was an icy surface layer and a good bit of verglas on boulders, however with the freezing level at around 1300 metres most of this ice was slowly melting too.

Poor visibility wasn’t great for photos.

A dusting of newish snow at 1200 metres on Aonach Mor. This looks like it landed as wet snow, then froze, and was just starting to melt at the time of this picture.

Looking into Easy Gully, Aonach Mor.
