Avalanches!

26th February 2020

There is an increasing amount of unstable windslab forming with the moderate Westerly wind which is the perfect strength to transport snow.
Various avalanches observed and reported today from South Castle Gully on Ben Nevis, Carn Dearg Beag and Stob Ban. I would expect some more so if you have spotted any fresh debris, please report it via the SAIS website: Please click here
Interestingly, the Stob Ban avalanche released at around mid day today then again at 4pm due to the rapid build up of wind transported snow!
