A brief respite.

13th February 2020

After a cloudy start it turned out to be a lovely afternoon. Winds were light, giving a bit of a respite from the stormy conditions which have dominated the weather recently. These storms have deposited a substantial amount of snow into sheltered lee aspects. Recent cornice collapse and avalanche activity was observed in Coire an Lochan. Stormy conditions expected to return tomorrow.

Coire an Lochan from the South. An recently formed avalanche crownwall can just be seen catching the sun above the line of shadow.

Riming on a signpost. Not hard to tell which way the wind has been coming from recently.
