Meteorological spring

1st March 2019

Today the 1st of March is the first day of meteorological spring. However, in a change to the traditional seasons, the summer conditions continue here in Lochaber. There is little snow on the hills at the moment, I have seen more snow in July. However, the forecast is for a change over the next few days. By next week we will hopefully have some snow to look at.

The CIC hut in the misty. Walking in there were some pretty thick layers of mist this morning.

An old bucket I found below Observatory Gully. Was this from the old Observatory on the summit? If you walk up Observatory Gully in summer there is loads of rotting detritus from the observatory.

Layers of cloud when looking back on the Allt a Mhullin.

Cloud trying to clear from Coire na Ciste.

Clearing to reveal a not very wintery Ben Nevis. This was the best view I got.
