Clear at last!

7th January 2018

A quiet and beautiful day on Ben Nevis. Only a handful of folk wandering around and a dead shrew!

The snow is quite variable underfoot still so be prepared from some trail breaking if you are venturing off the beaten path

Ice looks like its starting to form on many of the routes

Saw one team on Ledge Route today plus quite a few on Carn Mor Dearg and the Arete

Sadly, I think the shrew was beyond my first-aid ability.

Ptarmigan in full winter plumage

A dead Shrew at 760m. Not entirely sure what it was doing there!

A keen climber approaching the bottom of Observatory Gully

CIC Hut

Looking up towards No3 Gully

Orion Face and Observatory Ridge

Looking up No5 Gully. Lone climber at the bottom in the narrows
