Cooling Down

14th December 2014

After a mild night the freezing level dropped noticeably around the middle of the day. Snow and ice conditions are building quite nicely in the stormy conditions we have been experiencing. There was plenty of water about this morning after a mild wet night, the colder temperature should build ice and improve the climbing conditions. There is also a good base building for the skiing.

Debris from three avalanches that occurred last night was observed, all in major grade one gullies.
